New Apple MacBooks

Apple is all set to launch its new set of MacBooks very soon. Rumors say that these new laptops have some changes in its design and components.

• First of all is the rumored all new aluminium casing carved from a single piece that will be used in the these new ones.
• Slot loading DVD ROMs are said to be used.
• Keyboard like the MacBook Air.
• And probably the most important of the changes is the new chipset produced by Nvidia. Apple will continue to use Intel processors but will stop using their chipsets and instead use ones from Nvidia.

The advantages of moving over to Nvidia chipset are many. Important consideration should the lackluster performance of Intel integrated graphics compared to competitors. Then the single chip design should save valuable space and power requirements. Hybrid SLI feature should provide better performance and lower power consumption.

Airtel DTH launched

Adding to the already 3 DTH service providers, Airtel has recently launched its own service. It also like big tv, runs on MPEG4 technology.

The additional benefits in Airtel DTH are

• worldspace radio channels
• single remote for both TV and set top box.
• supposedly better set top box configuration in terms of hardware.
• better interactive applications
• uniform audio levels over all channels
• larger dish diameter for better signal reception during bad weather.

and a few more minor additions.

The costs of this service seems to be a bit on the higher side compared to other service providers but with better quality and better customer care, it can be overlooked.

My Ubuntu experience part 3 :

The experience of using legal stuffs from the OS to the apps was alone satisfying for me to completely transfer to linux. After I got used to it and the features it provided, usage of the OS had become indispensable to me.But still then i had been going to XP occasionally to play some games.

The bad parts about Ubuntu that i found was :

1) Lack of OpenGL based games and onyl for windows.

2) Audio driver (realtek) was not properly implemented i think. Was not able to use headphones and dint have audio configurations.

The best parts are that

1) Both the OS and the apps are completely FREE

2) Great user interface transitions and easy usability.(I still hate to learn those command line interface though i know it has some advantages too)

Recruited but unemployed

As of today,a lot of young Engineers and IT graduates have been recruited by the IT firms but have not been offered to join the respective company yet.

The students claim that in addition to making them wait for several months, the firms have not even communicated to them about the delay and expected joining date.

Call it global recession or cost cutting measure or just lack of resources to provide training and lack of projects.By all means it is a bad practice by the industry.

As a result some students have opted for higher education and preparation for competitive exams like CAT,while a few others are looking for part time job offers like BPO.But a majority of them are just sitting idle waiting indefinitely for call letters to arrive from the repective company.

This has lead to bad company image, employee turnover and wastage of resources.

Only a few companys like iFlex,HP and Hexaware have called their recruited candidates.Other firms and IT majors like Infy,TCS,CTS,etc are yet to inform the joining dates which are expected to be delayed even upto next year.
